Did I miss something? I just watched Friday’s Grand Tour episode last night, and they referenced an Aston Martin concept called the RB/AM-001, and they said it is intended to have a 1:1 (hp/kg) power/weight ratio. They said something like, “it’s the only car to have that.” But what about, umm, the One:1??? The whole name of the car is exactly that? And Koenigsegg’s car actually exists, currently, right? How did they miss that? Certainly the Koenigsegg was out at the time of the filming. C&D drove it in January of 2015.

Picture of each for your time.

That was my thought too. Is the One:1 not in production anymore or something?

The One:1 is 1361PS/1361kg. Horsepower would be a different measurement than Pferdestärke. Technically correct, and probably something AM put in their press release.

Annnnnnd that’s why the number is pretty meaningless.

But a PS is something like .986 HP, according to the C&D article anyway. They also mention it will make more power with E85, blah blah blah so I still would say it counts, no?

I bet you’re right though, that it was a technicality in their press release. Like, Best in Class Payload, lol.

ATM the One:1 has a HP:kg ratio of more than 1:1.

Wasn’t the Caterham RST-V8 Levante available in a 550 bhp tune, at 520 kg?

Thank you for posting this so I didn’t have to. When May said that, I almost turned it off.

I guess it’s some kind of technicality. Still, not to mention the One:1 and explain the difference.... I mean, it’s called the freaking One:1.

Finally watched it last night and thought the same thing during that segment. He made a point about it being normally aspirated, and not turbo or hybrid, so I figured that was the technicality.

Awful episode, IMO.

Totally agree. I just can’t believe they didn’t bring it up. I was wondering if maybe it’s a set up for the next episode.

Probably because it’s communist.

I didn’t hate it, but the desert rescue segment was just... odd. It just felt like a forced/strangely unnatural blend of real and fake things. Like, it’s all for training and “fake” in a way, but there were parts of it that were the “real” training exercises. Other parts, they clearly tacked on and it was hard to keep separate, to take it seriously. Maybe I’m overthinking it. You know, some of their challenges on Top Gear were like that, too. I’d find myself thinking, wait, how much of this is real vs. contrived. But on the whole, the antics of the three I think holds it all together.
